Studio Tecnico Marittimo (STM) is an independent – limited partnership – marine consultancy firm with some thirty years experience in the design of ships, floaters and rigs, ship management, ship builders and repairs yard assistance and casualty surveying services.
STM provides comprehensive expertise, technical support services and marine consulting to shipowners, shipyards, offshore operators, charterers, P&I clubs, ship insurers and underwriters, shipping and logistic industries and government agencies.
STM’s primary area of expertise is in the conceptual, preliminary and contract design of commercial vessels, barges and offshore rigs. STM has gained extensive experience in newbuildings and conversions of ships, floaters and rigs. Through the years, STM had been fortunate in having relationships with clients looking for innovative and cost effective solutions, and willing to venture beyond “current practice”.
Skilled technical and management personnel, supported by extensive Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Engineering (CAD/CAE) facilities and resources, enable STM to provide specialized technical consulting services and custom engineered products to marine and offshore industries: naval architecture calculations, comprehensive and integrated engineering, basic and production detailed design of structure and mechanical plants, construction / repairs inspection of ships and rigs, procurement support, floaters and ship motion analysis, sea fastening, rigging, lifting and handling of loads and cargo securing optimisation, analysis in support of class and flag / port state requirements.
STM has developed a complete working drawing packages supporting advanced modular zone construction and outfitting methodologies. These packages cover all types of shipboard systems, structures, and machinery installations, including auxiliary systems, piping and air ducts and electric trays coordination and plot plans, lay outs and space allocations, outfitting, stowage, and much more.
Codes like GHS and ORCAFLEX, VERISTAR and ALGOR, INVENTOR, pre and post processors, are leased or licensed and utilized as needed in design with FEM/FEA structural modeling and analysis and Naval Architectural and stability calculations.
Drawings are primarily developed and produced in MICROSTATION, PLANTSPACE although AUTOCAD is used as well.
STM engineers and designers are thoroughly familiar with and have developed designs in compliance with the rules and design criteria of various government and commercial regulatory agencies including:

RINa certifies the shipmanagement (SM) of cargo vessels under IMO (IMS) International Safety Shipmanagement code.
STM SM includes: onboard safety management, planned maintenance, administration, budget control and monitoring, crew selection – support and management, marine operations, refitting and repairs project management, logistic provisioning, bunkering and world-wide voyage planning.
STM has gained experience in the management of bulkers, car carriers, fisheries, refrigerated cargo, chemical carriers and tankers up to nowadays large yachts.
Crews, from Italy, Spain, Poland, Korea and Philippines, are enrolled by the parent manning Agents to the customers and STM satisfaction.
